Pear Design hired me to fix a hacked Wordpress installation for So Dressed Up, a Chicago event planner. I was able to repair the site (and make some updates) at a fraction of the cost of creating a new site. After a careful review of the site, I was able to do the following.
- Search for and remove all malicious code from the database.
- Reinstall Wordpress.
- Manually remove malicious code from the custom Wordpress theme.
- Implement security measures to help prevent a future break-in.
- Resubmit it to Google so they could remove the site from their blacklist.
